Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income
Gambling should be one form of entertainment among others, paid for out of money you can comfortably afford to lose. It is not a way to earn an income, to win back money you have already lost, or to cope with stress, boredom or debt. Most people play with us without difficulty, and for those who do not, we would rather help early than late.
Before you deposit, decide two things: what you are willing to spend over the month, and how long you want a single session to last. Treat the first figure as the price of the entertainment rather than a stake you expect to get back.
- Set a budget first, and keep it separate from money for rent, bills, food or credit repayments.
- Play with money you have, not with borrowed money, credit or an overdraft.
- Take regular breaks, and avoid playing when you are upset, tired or have been drinking.
- Accept that every game carries a built-in margin in the house's favour, so losing over time is the expected outcome.
- Never increase your stakes to chase a loss.
We also look at how accounts are used. Where the pattern of play on an account suggests a customer may be at risk, we may get in touch, suggest a limit, or restrict the account while we speak to them. Our staff are trained to handle those conversations quietly and without judgement.
18+ only
Our games are for adults aged 18 or over. We hold a gaming licence and are required to verify the identity and age of every customer. Any account opened by someone under 18 is closed, play is void and deposits are returned.
The tools in your account, and how to switch them on
Every control below sits in the responsible gaming area of your account, reachable from the account menu and from the cashier. You can use them yourself, at any hour, without giving a reason.
| Control | What it covers | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | What you can pay in per day, week or month | Reductions at once; increases after a cooling-off period |
| Loss limit | Your net losses over the period you pick | At once, until the period ends |
| Session limit | How long a single session may run | At once, every session |
| Reality check | A reminder of time played and net position | At the interval you choose |
| Time-out | Deposits and play | At once, for the short period you pick |
| Self-exclusion | Access to your account | At once, for the minimum period or longer |
Deposit limits
A deposit limit caps the total you can pay in over a day, a week or a month, and applies across all payment methods on your account. Lowering a limit takes effect straight away. Raising or removing one takes effect only after a cooling-off period and never without your confirmation.
Loss and session limits
A loss limit caps your net losses over the period you choose; once it is reached you cannot place further stakes until that period ends. A session limit caps how long one sitting may last, and we sign you out when you reach it.
Time-outs
A time-out is a short break, taken from the periods shown in your account. While it runs you cannot deposit or play, though you can still sign in to withdraw a balance and look at your history. A time-out cannot be lifted early.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer step, with a minimum period and a reinstatement process set out in your account. We close your access, cancel any open bonus, stop sending you marketing, and will not reopen the account during the period even if you ask. We also take reasonable steps to stop a new account being opened. Self-exclusion with us covers this site only, so you may wish to register with GamStop as well.
Reality checks
A reality check is an on-screen message at an interval you set, showing how long the session has run and whether you are up or down. You then choose whether to carry on or stop.
Switching a control on
- Sign in and open the responsible gaming section from your account menu.
- Choose the control you want: a deposit, loss or session limit, a reality check, a time-out or self-exclusion.
- Pick the amount or period from the options shown, then confirm.
- Go through the summary in your account to see what is active and when any change takes effect.
If you cannot find a control, or you want one applied immediately, use the live chat on site or write to support@casinoluckycarnival.co.uk and we will set it for you.
Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem
Difficulty with gambling builds gradually, and it shows in habits rather than in a single session. Answer the questions below honestly. One or two answers of yes suggest you should tighten your limits; several suggest taking a time-out and speaking to one of the organisations in the next section.
- Do you spend more time or money gambling than you intended to?
- Have you raised your stakes to win back what you had lost?
- Do you gamble with money meant for bills, rent, food or repayments, or with borrowed money?
- Have you hidden your gambling from family, friends or a partner, or been untruthful about it?
- Do you gamble to escape stress, low mood, loneliness or boredom?
- Has work, study, family life or your health suffered because of gambling?
- Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down or stop?
- Has someone close to you raised concerns about your gambling?
It is easier to judge your own play with the figures in front of you. Your account history lists every deposit, withdrawal, stake and win, and you can go through it whenever you like.
Where to get free, confidential help
Specialist organisations across the UK offer support at no cost, whether you are worried about your own gambling or someone else's.
- GambleAware: a charity that funds and commissions treatment, advice and prevention services in Great Britain, and publishes plain guidance on gambling harm for players and for the people around them.
- GamCare: provides free counselling, group support and structured treatment for anyone affected by gambling, in person and remotely, including partners and family members.
- GamStop: the free national online self-exclusion scheme. A single registration blocks you from the gambling sites that take part, for the period you choose.
- National Gambling Helpline: confidential advice and support around the clock, by telephone and online chat, for people who gamble and for those close to them.
You can also ask your GP about local treatment services, and free debt advice is available from national charities if money has become a worry. If you would like us to apply a time-out or self-exclusion while you arrange support, our live chat and support@casinoluckycarnival.co.uk are both open to you.
Protecting children and others in your household
Play with us is for adults aged 18 or over, and we take steps to keep anyone younger out. Every account goes through identity and age verification, and we may ask for documents at registration, before a withdrawal, or at any later point. Where age cannot be confirmed, we suspend play until it is.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and do not save them in a shared browser or on a shared device.
- Sign out fully when you finish, rather than just closing the tab.
- Never let anyone under 18 play on your account or stake on your behalf.
- Use the parental control and content filtering software available for computers, tablets and phones, and set up a separate profile for children.
- Blocking software can also stop a device reaching gambling sites altogether, which helps if others in the household are at risk.
If you think a minor has used your account, tell us at once through live chat or at support@casinoluckycarnival.co.uk. We will restrict the account, look into what happened and, where the play came from someone under 18, void that play and return the deposits in line with our terms.
